Rudiger Completes Chelsea Switch
Antonio Rudiger have completed his switch from Roma to English Champions Chelsea on a five-year contract for an initial £29m and will be putting on the No: 2 shirt for Chelsea.
The fee for the 24-year-old German defender could rise as high as £34m with add-ons for a player who boasts 17 caps for his country and made four appearances, including starting in the final against Chile, as the world champions prevailed at the Confederations Cup in Russia earlier this month.
Rudiger, who moves to England after two years at the Serie A club, whom he initially joined on a season-long loan from Stuttgart, said;
“It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this.”
Last season, Rudiger had 26 appearances for AS Roma in Serie A with 2 assists, playing as a right-back.
In the international level, Rudiger made his debut for the German national team. Until now, he has made 17 caps for Germany, with the recent devotion to winning the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Chelsea believe that Rudiger is an experienced side back and will help strengthen the line of defense.
