2015: Olanrewaju backs Agbaje as Lagos state PDP gubernatorial candidate
The Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and former Minister of Communications, in the person of General Tajudeen Olanrewaju has lauded the outcome of Lagos State governorship primary election, which produced Mr. Olujimi Agbaje as standard bearer of the party for the 2015 gubernatorial election.
Describing the intra-party election as free and fair, Olanrewaju said it was good to know that the election having been keenly contested was able to present a candidate that enjoyed resounding applause by people of Lagos State.
Congratulating the governorship candidate, the former General Officer Commanding, Third Division of the Nigerian Army said, “I am so delighted at the outcome of the election and with a candidate like Olujimi Agbaje, victory has begun to beacon to PDP in this state and, because our major interest is to win Lagos State, which has not happened since the inception of the ongoing Fourth Republic, we are going to work hard and harder all together to realize this dream.
“My advice to other contestants who could not make it is that they should sheath their swords, and cooperate with the leadership and work for the success of the governorship candidate and other successful candidates in ensuring the success of the party in 2015 because, as far as this struggle is concerned, the collective dream of all of us is to win.
And having said that, while it must be clear to all that for a single position that is available to many contestants, only one must naturally pick the ticket which is what has happened, I wish to congratulate Chief Bode George, Olujimi Agbaje and the rest of us for the good starting to have picked a quality and sellable candidate.
“We are therefore going to ensure, aside the fact the election has been won and lost, that no one would have cause to complain of cheating in the days ahead as everybody will be fairly treated,” Olanrewaju said.
